Clinic Website Checklist: Essential Pages and Features for Clinics

By Luqman Safay 3 min read

When someone needs a doctor or a dentist, the search starts on their phone — and the clinic whose website answers their questions fastest usually gets the call. This clinic website checklist covers what patients actually look for, in the order they look for it. It is written for clinics, dental practices and similar service businesses in Afghanistan; the commercial side — having such a website built — lives on my service-based websites page, while this article is the practical checklist itself.

The essential clinic pages

  • Home — what the clinic treats, where it is, and a call or WhatsApp button that cannot be missed.
  • Services / treatments — each service in plain language a patient understands, not only medical terms.
  • Doctors — names, specialties and qualifications, with real photos where the doctors agree to them.
  • Contact and location — address, a map or clear directions, phone numbers and opening hours.
  • About — the clinic's background and approach, briefly and honestly.

Appointment and contact features

Patients in a hurry do not fill in long forms. What works:

  • A tappable phone number at the top of every page.
  • A WhatsApp button — the channel most patients in Afghanistan already use — with a simple prefilled message like "I want to book an appointment".
  • A short form as a backup (name, phone, service, preferred time).
  • Opening hours stated clearly, including Friday arrangements.

Only promise online booking if your clinic actually runs it. A "book now" feature that nobody monitors is worse than an honest phone number.

Trust elements patients look for

  • Real photos of the clinic — reception, rooms, equipment — not stock photography.
  • Doctors' real names and qualifications, stated plainly.
  • Consistent details: the same phone number and address on the website, Google and social pages.
  • Clear information about what happens at a first visit.

Do not invent patient reviews or success statistics. For medical services especially, honesty is the trust strategy.

Location, hours and urgent information

Put your address and hours where a stressed visitor finds them in seconds: the contact page, the footer, and ideally a short line on the homepage. If you handle emergencies, say what to do and which number to call. If you do not, say that too — it prevents dangerous confusion.

Mobile and speed

Nearly every patient visit to your site will be from a phone, often on a slow connection. The site must load quickly, the text must be readable without zooming, and the call button must be reachable with a thumb. Test it on an ordinary Android phone, not only on the office computer.

Languages

Clinics serve everyone in their city. If your patients read Dari, Pashto and English, your key pages — services, hours, contact — should not exist in only one of them. Start with the language most of your patients use, and add the others for the pages that matter most.

How this fits the bigger picture

This checklist is the clinic-specific version of my general business website checklist — the two overlap on contact, mobile and trust, and this one adds the pages and features specific to healthcare. If you are having a clinic website built, bring this list to the first conversation; it makes the scope conversation concrete, and it is exactly the structure I build to on the websites for clinics and service businesses page.
